St John’s has been playing in the South Pembrokeshire Short Mat Bowls Friendly League since 2002, playing against village teams throughout the south of the county.

The club has been very successful over the last seven years. These are our positions in the league over this period:

2002-3: 5th
2003-4: 2nd
2004-5: 1st
2005-6: 1st
2006-7: 1st
2008-9: 2nd
For a team in their seventh year to have won the South Pembrokeshire Short Mat League three times and come second twice is an excellent achievement and we are fortunate to have a lovely hall with fantastic facilities where we practice each week.

There is a very sociable aspect to the club. For example, over the past six years we have been on enjoyable bowling holidays to Bodelwyddan, the Isle of Wight, Torquay and the Forest of Dean. On these holidays we take part in competitions with members of Short Mat Bowls clubs from all over the UK. We have functions at Christmas in our own club and join with the rest of the league in the Annual Dinner and Presentation evening at the end of the season.
